Content

This course builds on the skills you acquired in the Introductory Course. You will learn additional skills necessary for you to become a crew member and you will become a more confident sailor.

 

Format

This course consists of four, three hour practical lessons on board our 26 foot Sonata and our Adams 10 racing yacht. The sailing complement is again limited to four students to provide greater individual tuition.

 

Skills
  • Sail in strong winds.
  • Use the Spinnaker pole.
  • Set the Jib sheeting tension using Telltails.
  • Sheet the Main sail using the Leach ribbons.
  • Know how to moor and anchor.
  • Moor a yacht.
  • Know how moorings work.
  • Select and use the correct anchor.
  • Retrieve a person overboard.
  • Helming.
Qualifications

Competent Crew Certificate with log book entries
